Demand High for Seasoned Workers

The recent recession impacted workers across the board, but no group had a harder time regaining employment than older candidates. However, as companies are bouncing back employers are looking to older, more skilled workers. “Experience has come back into vogue in a big way,” says Witt/Kieffer president and CEO Charles W.B. Wardell III. “Management experience is beginning to be a real criterion.”

Professionals over the age of 65 are in high demand for leadership and mentoring roles and companies are looking for seasoned executives to assume these roles immediately, says Wardell.

Employees should think of 65-75 as their ‘stretch’ years and the time to take advantage of deep wisdom, maturity and decision-making skills to benefit a company or organization where their passion lies,” he says.
