Job Description
School of Dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia
Chair of General Dentistry
Augusta, GA
The Thomas P. Hinman Dental Society has recently endowed the chairmanship of the department of general dentistry at the School of Dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia. The School of Dentistry is now seeking nominees and interested individuals to fill that chair. The successful candidate will lead the department in the development and support of strong educational, research and clinical programs appropriate to the department's mission. The chair will bring a vision for the academic program and will work with the department to develop a strategic plan to realize that vision. The chair will provide academic leadership to ensure that the teaching program for pre-doctoral students reflects new advances in dental research and technology, including interdisciplinary research and comprehensive care clinical practice initiatives.
The chair will bring the communication, management and leadership skills to represent the department effectively in the school, the university and throughout the state. The exact job description and time commitment of the chair can be modified base on the individual's strengths, but it is anticipated that the non-teaching administrative responsibilities will represent about 50 percent of the full-time effort.
The ideal candidate will be an educator, researcher and clinician. The candidate will possess a D.M.D./D.D.S. from an American Dental Association-accredited institution, and be eligible for licensure in one of the fifty United States or Puerto Rico. The candidate should possess the vision and the communication, management and leadership skills to represent the department effectively in a complex health sciences environment.
