Witt/Kieffer is pleased to be assisting Wright State University (WSU) and its distinguished Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio, one of the nation's most respected community-based medical schools, in their search for the Director of the internationally-respected Lifespan Health Research Center ("LHRC" or "Center"), based in the Department of Community Health within the school of medicine. LHRC faculty are among the nation's most accomplished group of investigators pursuing cutting-edge work in a variety of areas including growth, maturation and aging, body composition, risk factors for cardiovascular disease, genetic epidemiology and general health status. LHRC has gained national and international prominence in the field of health-related, biomedical research.
LHRC is home to the Fels Longitudinal Study, established in 1929, funded by the National Institutes of Health, and today the world's largest and longest-running study on human growth and body composition. Members of the LHRC faculty have published hundreds of outstanding studies in the world's most prestigious peer-reviewed scientific journals. In the past 5 years alone, more than $17 million of new grant money has been brought in to the Center.
The Director will bring dynamic leadership, a strategic plan for the Center, and significant funding for future research. The Director will be a high-energy, proven research professional who brings a distinctly collaborative style; outstanding management skills; a commitment to the pursuit of research studies and initiatives that advance the Center overall; a record of successful grantsmanship as a Principal Investigator (PI); and an understanding of NIH and its interest in funding translational research and grants with a strong multidisciplinary approach.
This leader will bring significant experience in obtaining private and public grant support, particularly from NIH, and will bring funded projects to this new role. The Director will develop young faculty, will encourage continuous collaboration with seasoned faculty, will successfully integrate LHRC with other centers and divisions in the Department of Community Health, and will provide the vision and direction needed to substantially grow LHRC. The ideal candidate will be a nationally respected research leader in genetics, growth and development, nutrition, osteoporosis, cardiovascular risk, body composition, endocrinology, pediatrics, or other related discipline, and will possess a terminal degree, such as a PhD or an MD.
