Rider University
Dean, College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences
Lawrenceville and Princeton, NJ

Rider University is seeking an outstanding leader for the position of Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences and invites nominations for, and expressions of interest in, the position.

Recognized as a top-tier Master's institution, Rider University is a vibrant, student-centered community of learners and scholars. Centrally located between New York City and Philadelphia, the University is connected to the dynamic intellectual and cultural life of the Northeast corridor. With campuses located in Lawrenceville and Princeton, New Jersey, Rider is an independent, residential university with a faculty of 236 and 5,794 undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional adult students. There are four academic colleges offering 57 undergraduate and 21 graduate academic programs: the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences; the College of Business Administration; the new Westminster College of the Arts; and the College of Continuing Studies.

Rider is recognized for its dynamic leadership, its distinguished and dedicated faculty and for the excellence of its academic programs. The University and its programs are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the Council of Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs, the American Chemical Society and the National Association of Schools of Music.

Rider University is an institution with a clearly articulated vision, and is actively engaged in a deliberate process of renewal that will advance the University to its next level of excellence. As part of its strategic plan, the University is actively pursuing five strategic directions: strengthening student-centeredness; advancing intellectual engagement and leadership skills; enhancing connections among the liberal arts and sciences, education for the professions, and community; fostering diverse perspectives and social responsibility; and building resources for the future. In addition, an exciting transformation of the campus environment and its facilities is well under way.

The College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences enrolls approximately 54% of the University's undergraduates and 52% of its graduate students. The College's 135 faculty members include many award winning and internationally recognized scholars. The Dean is the academic and administrative leader of the College, and the principal advocate for the mission and purpose of a liberal arts education. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of effective leadership and oversight of programs, faculty, and staff in an institution of higher education. Significant experience teaching in a college or university environment and a record of distinguished scholarship are required. The ability to participate in the University's emerging capital campaign is also desired.
