Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, seeks nominations for and expressions of interest in the position of vice president for university advancement.

Capital University is a comprehensive, independent university, grounded in the Lutheran tradition. Founded in 1830 and the oldest and one of the largest universities affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Capital University combines personal attention with a balanced liberal arts and professional studies education to prepare students for lifelong learning, leadership and service. It offers diverse programs in the arts, sciences, law and professions to a total undergraduate and graduate student population of approximately 3,800. Capital University's 50-acre campus lies in the attractive, tree-lined suburb of Bexley, just minutes from the cultural, government and business hub of Ohio's capital city, the third fastest growing major metropolitan area in the Midwest. In the fall of 2007, Capital University inaugurated its 15th president, Dr. Denvy Bowman, who is leading a strategic planning process that will identify priorities for attention, investment and inclusion in an anticipated capital campaign. The university seeks a vice president for university advancement who will work in partnership with the president and university leadership in engaging the entire community in creating an exciting case for a support. The vice president will also be expected to build a strong and vital advancement program that positions the university effectively to attract the resources necessary to fund the university's goals and aspirations.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned advancement executive with capital campaign and major gift experience, the management experience and ability to build and lead a team, and the interpersonal qualities and characteristics necessary to forge and maintain productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external constituents. A bachelor's degree is required.
