John Carroll University (JCU), located in Cleveland, Ohio, is a private, coeducational, Catholic and Jesuit university dedicated to its mission of developing young women and men with the knowledge and character to lead and to serve. JCU provides programs in more than 35 major fields of the arts, social sciences, natural sciences and business at the undergraduate level, and in selected areas at the master's level. The university consists of two schools: the College of Arts and Sciences and the Boler School of Business. JCU enrolls approximately 3,125 undergraduate students and 700 graduate students.
In the 2008 U.S. News & World Report annual guide, "America's Best Colleges," John Carroll University ranked seventh overall among Midwestern Universities - Master's I. JCU also ranked second among Midwestern - Master's I in average graduation rate and was thirteenth on the "Great Schools, Great Prices" list. This year marks the 19th straight year the university has achieved similarly high rankings.
Chief Information Officer
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will report to the President of John Carroll University and will be responsible for the overall management of the enterprise-wide IT function. As a member of the leadership team, the CIO will provide the leadership, vision and strategy for information technology in support of the mission and values of the university. The CIO will work collaboratively with leadership, faculty, students and staff across the organization and develop an environment that is responsive to customer needs. This position is strongly focused on ensuring a high quality, transparent and client service oriented IT organization.
Qualifications for the position include:
- An advanced degree is strongly preferred: a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Business, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- A seasoned executive in a senior IT leadership position such as a CIO within an institution of higher education or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience building and leading a client oriented information technology organization and experience in facilitating change.
- A successful track record in the implementation of major information systems such as ERP.
- The successful candidate will share and possess a deep interest in the values and mission of John Carroll University and its Jesuit foundation.
