Provost and Vice President Academic Affairs

Salem State College in historic Salem, Massachusetts, seeks nominations for and expressions of interest in the position of Provost.

Established in 1854, Salem State College is a comprehensive, publicly assisted institution of higher learning situated on 180 acres 16 miles north of Boston. With an undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education student population of approximately 10,000, Salem State is the third largest public institution of higher education in Massachusetts and an important contributor to the economic, cultural and intellectual vitality of the greater North Shore area. Salem State offers over 30 undergraduate and 50 graduate programs, works in partnership with the surrounding community to provide leading and effective education and training programs, maintains a thriving and active business incubator Enterprise Center, and offers award winning cultural events, a diverse array of athletic programs and a nationally renowned public speaker series for the benefit of its students, faculty and community members. In 2007 Salem State College appointed a new President, Dr. Patricia Meservey. Under her dynamic leadership, the college has begun a rigorous strategic planning process. Reporting to the President, the Provost will play a key leadership role in these efforts and in advancing academic excellence. The Provost is responsible for the planning, operation, direction, and supervision of all academic areas, programs and personnel at the college. Reporting to the provost are the deans of the schools of Business, Arts and Sciences, Human Services, Continuing Education & Non-Traditional Programs, Library, Instruction & Learning Support, and the Graduate School; the Director of Institutional Research & Assessment; and the Executive Administrator of the Center for Creative & Performing Arts.
