Job Description
Valley Forge Military Academy & College
Vice President for Development
Wayne, PA
Valley Forge Military Academy & College - "The Finest Institution of its Kind in the World" - is seeking an accomplished institutional development professional to take the leadership role in building new relationships and resources for this esteemed school located in suburban Philadelphia.
Since 1928, Valley Forge has been committed to a character-based education built through a premiere education at both its Academy and College. The all-male Academy is a college preparatory school with a military tradition where cadets develop into motivated, focused, successful young adults. Valley Forge is proud of the fact that 98% of Academy cadets achieve college placement into their first or second choice college.
Valley Forge Military College is a co-educational two-year program which confers associate degrees in liberal arts and sciences with concentrations in business, criminal justice, liberal arts, science and pre-engineering. The College is a unique option for students looking to transfer to a four-year college or aspiring to attend one of the service academies. It is one of only five colleges in the country to offer the US Army ROTC Early Commissioning Program. An impressive 99% of College cadets transfer to four-year colleges or universities.
While the history and traditions of Valley Forge are rich with success, it is imperative that new resources be garnered to grow the institution and serve current and future needs. The Vice President for Development will be arriving at a critical time, as plans are actively underway to design and construct new campus facilities that will support the school's new designation as "Pennsylvania's Military College".
The Vice President for Development will join an exceptional team of senior executives and work closely with Valley Forge's dynamic president, Charles A. "Tony" McGeorge. This development professional will bring new and creative ideas regarding resource generation, along with a strong knowledge of "best practices" in conventional fundraising. He/she will be given the latitude to move forward with new approaches and initiatives, and have the opportunity to make a true difference to the institution and the students it serves.
Candidates should present at least 7-10 years of experience in fundraising and development, and a keen knowledge of philanthropic strategies, tools, and tactics. The successful candidate will be a highly creative, energetic and positive individual who can help craft not only the correct message/story about Valley Forge but deliver it with the right feel and tone to the various internal and external constituencies.
