Witt/Kieffer has been retained to identify and evaluate candidates for the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) at University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.

The University of Kentucky is a public, research-extensive, land grant university dedicated to improving people's lives through excellence in teaching, research, health care, cultural enrichment, and economic development. The university campus covers more than 716 acres in Lexington and is home to more than 27,000 students and more than 13,500 employees. The university offers some 200 majors and degree programs in 17 academic and professional colleges. It is one of only a few public universities nationally to house colleges of Agriculture, Arts and Sciences, Business and Economics, Communications and Information Studies, Dentistry, Design, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Health Sciences, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Social Work on a single campus.

The University of Kentucky is rapidly growing and anticipates enrollment to increase to approximately 35,000 students over the next few years. The Chief Information Officer will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the university-wide IT function in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values, and goals of the University. The CIO will provide the IT strategy and vision and is responsible for all aspects of information technology in support of the academic, administrative and research functions. The CIO will assess the current information systems organization and technology and will work with senior leadership to ensure an organizational structure, systems infrastructure and business direction to guide future information technology investments. This position is strongly focused on ensuring a high quality, transparent and client service oriented IT organization through the successful integration and coordination of the IT units.

A bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is strongly preferred in business, computer science, public administration, engineering, mathematics or related field. University of Kentucky seeks a seasoned executive in a senior IT leadership position such as a CIO in an institution of higher education or a related field with a successful track record in the implementation of academic and administrative information systems. The CIO must have the ability to develop strong collaborative relationships across the University of Kentucky enterprise. Demonstrated experience building and leading a service oriented information technology organization and experience in facilitating change is a must.
