Job Description

Drexel University
President
Philadelphia, PA

Drexel University, an institution of extraordinary dynamism and ambition, invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of President. Drexel's 14th President will be the successor to Dr. Constantine Papadakis, who served a highly successful 14-year term until his untimely death in Spring 2009. Dr. Papadakis's legacy at Drexel is a transformed University that has gone from a modest position to one of great strength. Drexel today is a national research university with global reach: a worldwide leader in co-operative education deeply committed to varieties of experiential education and use-inspired, translational research; and a University that strives to enhance the local, regional and world community through its commitment to civic engagement.

Drexel University enrolls more than 22,000 full- and part-time students, served by more than 1,200 full-time faculty in 12 colleges and schools. Drexel is headquartered in the University City area of Philadelphia and educates students at three campuses in the city, several satellite sites including the new Center for Graduate Studies in Sacramento, Calif., and online through its for-profit division, Drexel Online.

The new President will be expected to sustain - and strategically build on - the University's exciting momentum. This leader will be asked to further mature Drexel's recent investments in new programs and initiatives so as to enhance their quality and reputation, to develop new sources of revenue including active engagement in fundraising, and to advance a vision for Drexel's next decade. In accomplishing these goals the President will be expected above all to further Drexel's tradition of academic and administrative entrepreneurship. Information about the University and the complete Presidential Leadership Profile is available at http://www.drexel.edu/presidentialsearch.

Nominations, expressions of interest and applications are invited, and those interested should be assured that the search will be conducted with full confidentiality. Drexel is being assisted in this search by Witt/Kieffer consultants Jean Dowdall, Ph.D., John Thornburgh, Thomas Jackson and Robin Mamlet; they can be contacted at DrexelPresident@wittkieffer.com or at (630) 575-6131. Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae and a letter that addresses the issues described in the Leadership Profile, which should be reviewed before preparing materials. Application materials should be submitted electronically to DrexelPresident@wittkieffer.com; items that cannot be emailed may be mailed to the consultants at Witt/Kieffer, 2015 Spring Road, Suite 510, Oak Brook, IL 60523. For full consideration, materials should be received by December 1. References will not be contacted until candidates have been notified.

Drexel University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
