Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs

The University of Florida (UF), a top ranked public research and land grant institution seeks a new vice president to build upon its strengths in advancement, leverage and enhance its national and international reputation, deepen relationships with alumni, and increase the breadth and substance of its philanthropic support.
Working in close partnership with the President, and as part of his executive leadership team, the vice president will be responsible for successfully concluding the current $1.5 billion campaign, while strategically positioning the institution for a future campaign. He or she will work to create synergy across the institution that optimizes resources to promote university-wide, unit specific and interdisciplinary advancement activities.
With an operating budget in excess of $2 billion, UF is among the ten largest universities in the nation, with an enrollment of over 50,000 students. The University is comprehensive and offers more than 100 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate and professional programs. UF is home to 16 colleges and more than 150 research centers and institutes, and has a close working relationship with its affiliate, Shands HealthCare, one of the Southeast's premier health systems which includes eight hospitals. UF is a member of the distinguished Association of American Universities. A major research center, the University attracted over $650M in externally funded research and licensing revenue this year. The University has been the beneficiary of tremendous goodwill and visibility, as evidenced by its successful comprehensive campaign—well on its way to its goal.
Located on 2,000 acres, the University's 900+ buildings include the largest natural history/anthropology museum in the Southeast, the world's largest citrus research center, a microkelvin laboratory capable of producing the coldest temperature in the universe, a recognized world-class Brain Institute, an engineering particle science and technology research center, a 100-kilowatt training and research reactor, one of the nation's few self-contained intensive care hyperbaric chambers, and state-of-the-art athletic facilities.
The University's advancement operation exists in a separate 501 C3 organization, the University of Florida Foundation. The vice president oversees a staff of 255 and a budget of just over $29M. The vice president is responsible for stewardship of all of those resources as well as the management of the activities of the foundation board.
The successful candidate will bring innovative thinking, collaborative strategies, and proven managerial and fundraising skills gained in a comparable first-tier institution. He or she will have the leadership skills and requisite experience to nurture a strong, diverse set of relationships; inspire professionals and volunteers to new achievements, and develop a forward thinking, high performing organization.
