Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

East Stroudsburg University seeks an accomplished and visionary academic leader for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs will provide leadership to College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and Management, College of Education, College of Health Sciences, the Graduate College, Library, and the supporting units of Academic & Institutional Effectiveness and Instructional Support & Outreach.

Working collaboratively with senior leadership, the Provost reports directly to the President and provides leadership in the development, assessment, budgeting, and oversight for all academic initiatives as well as providing advocacy for the academic division in support of the University's mission. The Provost also acts as the chief executive officer in the President's absence.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in administrative leadership and a sense of integrity to the position. He or she will be an experienced leader in higher education and have an established record of teaching, research, and service. Requirements include a doctorate from an accredited university in a discipline appropriate to the University and an established record of teaching, research, and service. Demonstrated experience in budget management, enrollment growth and retention, development of distance education and new curricula, accountability and outcomes measurement, and the ability to lead institutional effectiveness system reviews is also required. The candidate should have experience working with diverse populations and possess a deep commitment to the values of ESU and the ability to successfully articulate its mission and goals.

The successful candidate must have the ability to plan, direct, and evaluate a complex operation, effectively using human resources, time, funds, and other resources for the accomplishment of long-term and short-term goals of the institution. In addition, the candidate needs to have the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public, to provide administrative guidance within his or her area of responsibility, and the ability to apply budgetary and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints. The candidate should have knowledge and/or experience of working in a unionized environment.

Final selection will be based upon a successful interview and background check. All candidates must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of employment. A member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, ESU offers a unique combination of big and small university -- big university facilities, with a dedicated professional faculty providing students small school attention and a friendly atmosphere in which to live and learn. Located in the scenic Pocono Mountains within a 90-minute drive of New York City and two hours from Philadelphia, East Stroudsburg University is one of the fourteen universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

Founded in 1893, with a current enrollment of 7,300, the University maintains a rich academic tradition and continues to build on its sense of history with unique new undergraduate and graduate degree programs and a major Science and Technology Center. Offering 58 undergraduate degree programs and graduate degrees in 23 fields of study, the University is experiencing increasing enrollments and is poised for continued growth. Adjacent to the unspoiled Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, the surrounding community offers options for suburban, small city, or country living.
