Charlene Aguilar


Based in South Bend, Indiana, Charlene Aguilar is a consultant at Witt/Kieffer in the firm’s Education Practice. Charlene applies her 30 years of professional expertise and experience when supporting leadership searches for college and university presidents, chancellors, provosts and deans, in addition to key positions in advancement, academic and student affairs, enrollment and admissions. She also brings considerable knowledge and experience to diversity and inclusion initiatives across the spectrum of independent secondary schools along with public and non-profit enterprises.

Before joining Witt/Kieffer, Charlene held numerous higher ed administrative leadership posts. She served as director of undergraduate education initiatives and special assistant to the executive vice provost at the University of Washington, where she also was on the executive council of the Latina Faculty and Professional Staff Group. Previously at Stanford University, she served as associate director for the Stanford Center for Chicano Research; interim dean of students at El Centro Chicano, and associate director of undergraduate admission. Charlene was also director of undergraduate admissions at Santa Clara University; associate director of the annual fund at the University of Chicago Law School; an admissions and school relations counselor with significant responsibility for undergraduate recruitment, and director of summer orientation/associate registrar at the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Charlene remains an active advocate in public service locally and nationally, and engages in multiple philanthropic endeavors. Among other noteworthy volunteer roles in the community, she has provided insights on strategic governance, policy and programs as a volunteer member of diverse non-profits, school boards and community foundations. Notably she has served ten years in varying capacities from Board Chair to the executive leadership team for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), the nation’s leading Latino legal civil rights organization.
