Director of Research
Evanston, IL

Witt/Kieffer is pleased to be assisting the leadership of Mather Lifeways in Evanston, Illinois, in suburban Chicago, one of the most respected and innovative senior care organizations in the country, in the search for the Director of Research - Mather Lifeways Institute on Aging.

Mather Lifeways ("Mather") is a unique non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults through lifestyle and residential alternatives that create Ways to Age Well. Mather's spectrum of services includes multiple campuses offering independent living, memory support and skilled care, as well as Mather's - More Than a Café centers, located in naturally-occurring retirement communities and offering better places for older adults to live, work, learn, contribute, and play. The Mather Lifeways Institute on Aging (MLIA) plays a leading role in enhancing the lives of older adults through numerous collaborative and applied research and education projects. MLIA staff conduct intramural and extramural applied research; work closely with colleagues in designing, implementing and testing interventions and programs; publish and communicate the results of projects; and support the replication of evidence-based programs throughout the field.

The Director of Research will oversee MLIA's current $ 4 million applied research agenda while significantly expanding this important applied research enterprise. The Director will develop and oversee research in Mather's key areas of focus, including Wellness, Work Force and Care Giving, and will work to ensure the translation of this research into programs and products for older adults and the professionals who serve them. This leader will have an opportunity to oversee start-up projects funded by Mather Lifeways.

The Director of Research will be a high energy, results-oriented research professional who possesses a successful record of achievement in applied gerontological research, and will ideally possess substantial experience in senior housing, long term care and/or community-based senior care service delivery. This leader will bring significant experience in obtaining private and public grant support and may bring funded projects to this new role. The Director will have an understanding of the economic and regulatory environment in which Mather operates, and will possess a terminal degree, such as a PhD or an MD.
