Job Description

Hoboken University Medical Center
Chief Operating Officer
Hoboken, NJ

Hoboken University Medical Center (HUMC) has retained Witt/Kieffer to assist in the recruitment of a Chief Operating Officer. The Chief Operating Officer will report directly to Mr. Harvey Holzberg, the Chief Executive Officer, and will serve as a leader for growth and business at HUMC. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hospital operations executive with a strong record of organizational accomplishments.

Based in the heart of Hoboken, New Jersey, HUMC is a 328-bed facility. HUMC is the oldest continually operating hospital in New Jersey and possesses some of the area's best doctors and nurses, the latest in medical technology, and a host of medical specialties to treat people of all ages and ailments. Many capital improvements, including new services and equipment, will be added in 2008 and beyond. In 2007 the hospital broke ground on a new $13.6 million Emergency Department. The project is expected to be completed in mid-2009 and will double the size of the Emergency Department.

Hudson Healthcare, Inc. operates Hoboken University Medical Center through a contract with the Municipal Hospital Authority. The Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority Board was founded in 2006 through legislation enacted by Gov. John Corzine and the City of Hoboken to prevent the city from losing its only hospital, the former St. Mary Hospital. On February 01, 2007, the Authority completed the transaction to have the hospital owned by the residents of Hoboken. The Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority Board is an 11-member, autonomous board of directors, charged with overseeing Hoboken University Medical Center. Meetings of The Authority are open to the public. The Authority selected a non-profit agency, Hudson Healthcare, Inc., to manage and operate the hospital.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented executive with extraordinary operational, leadership, and strategic skills. We seek an experienced leader with strong relationship skills, who understands the importance of building programs and increasing patient volumes. A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance is preferred, as well as a Master's Degree in Business or the equivalent. Resumes or Nominations may be sent to Jeffrey K. Frerichs; Jefff@WittKieffer.com; Witt/Kieffer, 780 Third Avenue, 38th Floor, New York, NY 10017; 212.686.2676 (E-mail preferred).
