Vice President Compliance and Internal Audit

Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Catholic Health East (CHE) to recruit a new Vice President Compliance and Internal Audit for this multi-state, multi-institutional healthcare organization.
The VP Compliance and Internal Audit has primary responsibility for the continued development and implementation of CHE's Compliance and Internal Audit Programs, with emphasis on the effective integration of the Compliance and Internal Audit functions. In addition, the VP Compliance and Internal Audit will have extensive involvement with the CHE Board Audit and Compliance Committee, system leadership and various external publics, including oversight of the external accounting firm that provides internal audit support to CHE. The position itself will be based at the CHE system office in Newtown Square, PA and will be an active member of the CHE leadership team.
Catholic Health East is one of the largest health systems in the country with over $6.8 billion in annual net revenues, 50,000 employees and approximately $278 million in annual community benefit services. The range of healthcare, residential and social services sponsored by CHE is extensive and includes 33 acute care hospitals, 4 long-term acute care hospitals, 36 freestanding and hospital-based long-term care facilities, 12 assisted living facilities, 5 continuing care retirement communities, 7 behavioral health and rehabilitation facilities, 25 home health/hospice agencies, and numerous ambulatory and community-based health services. CHE has embarked upon a journey to further develop its capabilities to act as a unified organization, while respecting the uniqueness of the local communities it serves. The VP Compliance and Internal Audit position will represent an important step forward to create more consistency in compliance and internal audit practices.
The successful candidate will possess a unique blend of experience, professional knowledge and personal characteristics. The role will require a substantial and contemporary knowledge of compliance and/or internal audit as well as thorough knowledge of health care regulatory trends, coupled with an ability to work collaboratively with others at the system office and in the Regional Health Corporations. The ability to communicate clearly and respectfully, solve problems in an atmosphere of trust and model the core CHE values are expected competencies. Particular emphasis will be placed upon candidates' track record of meeting customer needs while maintaining compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements. Additionally, candidates will have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in finance, accounting, business or a related field, with a strong preference for a Master's degree in business, health care administration, accounting, finance, or related field or a degree in law from an accredited university.
