Job Description

Memorial Health System
Chief Nursing Officer
Colorado Springs, CO

As a leading employer and award-winning provider of comprehensive health care services in Southern Colorado, Memorial Health System is already characterized by its high level of clinical talent and collegial culture. A few of the awards that Memorial received in 2007 include:

  • #1 Heart Program in Colorado and Top 5% in the Nation by Health Grades (2008)
  • Thomson 100 top Cardiovascular Hospitals in the United States (2007)
  • National Research Corporation (NRC) Consumer Choice Award (2007/2008)

The system operates two hospitals as well as a children's hospital. Memorial Hospital Central is licensed for 616 beds and includes the Memorial Hospital for Children, in partnership with The Children's Hospital (based in Denver). Memorial Hospital North opened in 2007 and is licensed for 98 beds. More than a dozen outpatient facilities also are located throughout Colorado Springs, El Paso County and in Teller County. Through a racially and ethnically diverse team of 4,700 dedicated employees, 800 physicians and 1,200 volunteers, the system works to optimize the health of the community.

The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the nursing practice for all inpatient and outpatient operations throughout the organization. Memorial seeks a dynamic executive to facilitate its transformation from a 100-year-old city-owned hospital to a state-of-the-art health system whose mission is "to provide the highest quality care." With renewed commitment to the community, the system is poised under new leadership to emerge as a progressive 21st-century organization that delivers the highest quality healthcare through a physician-led, patient-centered model. The successful candidate will possess strong individual and team skills, a commitment to developing a cutting-edge organizational culture based on Lean principles, and will value, teach and model coaching and systems transformation.

The new CNO will have the opportunity to live and work in an outstanding market. With a population of nearly 400,000, Colorado Springs is located approximately 70 miles south of Denver at the base of scenic Pikes Peak in the Front Range region of Colorado. The city boasts a rich heritage, abundant recreational opportunities in the Rocky Mountains, low crime, excellent schools, moderate cost of living, and a mild four-season climate. At 6,035 feet above sea level, Colorado Springs receives an average 247 days of sunshine per year.

All discussions about this search will be handled in strict confidence. For additional information regarding this outstanding opportunity please contact:
