Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines is recruiting candidates for position of Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA). Witt/Kieffer, an executive search firm specializing in healthcare and higher education, has been retained to assist in this important search.
Mercy Medical Center - Des Moines (MMC-DM) is a 900-bed tertiary care facility, providing services on three campuses within the Des Moines area and a member of the Denver-based consortium Catholic Health Initiatives.
Mercy Medical Center - DM has an active medical staff of over 900. A full range of secondary and tertiary care services are provided with service lines for Bariatrics, Cancer, Cardiology, both Interventional and Surgical care for Pediatrics/Adults, Orthopedics, General Surgery, and Surgical Subspecialties, Gastroenterology, Maternal/Child, with Pediatric ED, PICU, and NICU, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Trauma Services (level II), Acute Rehab, Subacute and Senior Services. Technology now available includes da Vinci surgical platform, Cyberknife Radiosurgery, and advanced equipment to support interventional medical imaging as well as cardiac cath lab procedures. Electronic ICU was implemented in January 2008 and provides critical care telemedicine for critical care units at other Iowa locations.
The VPMA is a role seen by both medical staff and hospital leadership as critical to the achievement of the institution's strategic objectives. The VPMA will participate in the senior leadership of the hospital and will provide tactical advice to the Administration as well as will develop strong working relationships with all physicians for the purpose of executing excellent care delivery strategies. The VPMA will directly report to the Chief Executive Officer.
The successful nominee or applicant will be MD/DO prepared who is board certified in any medical discipline with clinical and administrative experience and eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa. Candidates must possess consummate leadership skills, be highly credible and quality clinician with a demonstrated talent for senior administrative work.
