The health system has 4,700 employees and operates two hospitals as well as a children's hospital. Memorial Hospital Central is licensed for 616 beds and includes the Memorial Hospital for Children, in partnership with The Children's Hospital (based in Denver). Memorial Hospital North opened in 2007 and is licensed for 98 beds. The system also operates more then a dozen outpatient facilities throughout the community. Memorial has received many accolades to include recognition as #1 Heart Program in Colorado and Top 5% in the nation by Health Grades in 2008. Net operating revenue for the system in 2008 is expected to be 631 million dollars.
The COO reports directly to the system CEO and has the authority and responsibility for the effective and efficient operation of the nursing areas as well as the professional and support service areas which impact safe, patient-centered flow of Memorial Health System, along with the associated joint ventures. Candidates should have at least ten years of experience in senior executive leadership roles in a large, complex medical center or related healthcare setting in a competitive market.
Colorado Springs is located approximately 70 miles south of Denver at the base of scenic Pikes Peak in the Front Range region of Colorado. Money Magazine rated the city number one - the Best Big City in the nation to live and work - in its August 2006 issue.
