Vice President/Chief Financial Officer

Calvary Hospital, located in Bronx, New York is seeking a Vice President/Chief Financial Officer. Calvary Hospital is the only fully accredited acute care specialty hospital in the United States, providing palliative care for advanced cancer patients. The Vice President/CFO will report directly to the Calvary Hospital, Chief Executive Officer, Frank A. Calamari.
Calvary Hospital, founded in 1899, has been faithfully devoted to providing palliative care to adults in the advanced stages of cancer, addressing the symptoms of the disease, not its cure.
A voluntary, not-for-profit hospital, operated in connection with the Archdiocese of New York. Calvary continues to embody this tradition of caring through services and programs offered through the dedication and concern shown by its staff members.
Calvary Hospital has 225 beds in the Bronx and Brooklyn, 950 employees and serves more than
5,300 patients annually, without regard to race, religion, or economic status. Calvary provides active treatment of the symptoms, not the cure of the disease, in order to make their patients as comfortable as possible. Their programs include inpatient care, case management, outpatient care, care of complex wounds, home care, hospice, nursing home hospice, bereavement care and support programs for patients, families and friends.
Calvary serves about 12% of all individuals who die of cancer in the New York Metropolitan area each year. Patients are referred to Calvary from every major hospital and medical center in New York City. The average length of stay is 26 days.
Calvary's patients come from across the New York State tri-state area; the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, Westchester, Brooklyn and Long Island as well as from other locations. They range in age from 20 to 108 with a majority (82%) over the age of 55 years. The patient population is diverse with 46% of all inpatients comprising individuals of Asian, African-American, and Hispanic descent.
This is an outstanding leadership opportunity for a talented, mission-driven and experience financial executive with finance and operations experience. We seek a values-based, highly strategic and pragmatic executive who possesses the competencies to ensure Calvary's ongoing preeminence as a palliative care provider. A Master's degree in business, finance or a related field and/or a CPA is required, as well as at least ten years of hospital management experience.
