Witt/Kieffer has been retained to identify candidates for the position of Chief Medical Information Officer at Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Children's Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit, and is one of the largest pediatric providers in the nation. As the primary pediatric teaching facility for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, the medical staff at Children's conducts research that is instrumental in developing treatments, therapies and greater understanding of pediatric diseases. Children's is licensed for 411 beds and has more the 50 subspecialty programs.
The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) will provide guidance and leadership for the design, implementation, and on-going operations support of clinical and administrative information solutions at Children's to maximize the clinical, educational and research use of these applications. This position includes ensuring that medical informatics concepts, experiences and knowledge are integrated into information systems strategic plans, application design, application infrastructure and implementation tactics. The CMIO will also assist in development of clinical systems, educational systems, research systems, eStrategy systems, academic systems between University of Texas Southwestern, Parkland Health and Children's.
The CMIO will serve as a key advisor to physician leadership, the Director's of Information Services, Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Medical Officer and elated committees including ongoing development and review of related policies and procedures. The CMIO will work closely the support the Dean, Department of Pediatrics and University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. The CMIO will be consultative, strategic and tactical in approach and become recognized nationally through publication, presentation and attending relevant conferences.
The candidate must be a licensed physician with recent medical practice. Medical informatics training or informatics experience is preferred. A clinician who has experience in dealing with clinical staff at all levels in a large academic healthcare institution is desirable.
