VPMA and Chief Quality Officer

Excela Health has engaged Witt Kieffer to help them find a physician executive to serve as VPMA and Chief Quality Officer. Formed in 2004 with the merger of three hospitals in Westmoreland County and enlarged in May, 2008 with the additional of Mercy Hospital of Jeannette, Excela is the premier health system on the eastern outskirts of Pittsburgh.
Presently, over 20% of Excela Health's medical staff of 600 physicians are employed by Excela Health Physician Practices (EHPP -- includes family medicine, internal medicine gastroenterology, orthopedics, cardiology, and cardio-thoracic surgery (with growth from only 3 small practices three years ago to nearly 130 employed physicians in early 2008). The size of the EHPP has doubled in the past two years and over the next 12-18 months, it is anticipated that an additional 50-100 physicians will be employed. Excela Health has recently completed a multi-year strategic plan that sets ambitious goals for growth and development of the organization, including a capital plan that will invest substantial resources in the construction and re-configuration of its existing hospitals.
Candidates will need significant experience in physician leadership roles and contemporary knowledge and experience in quality. Experience in a multi-hospital system is strongly preferable.
