Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas seeks a Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology. The new Chair will provide leadership to the Department with the development and implementation of a dynamic vision for its future, while also playing an essential role with the President and other Department Chairs in the ongoing evolution and success of the School.
This individual will be the academic and clinical Chair of the Department, which includes twelve direct reports, a top ten ranked graduate program in nurse anesthesia and a department budget of $27 million. The Chair reports to the President/CEO and Executive Dean of Baylor College of Medicine and leads a faculty of 92.
The Chair will join Baylor at a particularly exciting time in the School of Medicine's history, as a substantial campaign to invest in the faculty has begun. With an investment of $1.0 billion in both facilities and new faculty, Baylor is in the midst of a major expansion that will involve new space for patient care, research and education of more that 1 million gross square feet with the ability to grow to more than 2.7 million gross square feet.
The successful candidate must have proven experience as a leader who can inspire faculty and staff to work together to develop future leaders in the Department. It is also important that the candidate possess strong management skills with an ability to grow revenues and meet budgets, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of constituents both internally and externally.
Candidates must be a professor of anesthesiology at an LCME accredited medical school and be board certified. The candidate should possess a national and international reputation built upon a distinguished record of achievement in research, teaching and clinical care with national and international stature.
