Chief Financial Officer
Billings, MT

Billings Clinic is a nationally prominent multi-specialty foundation model group practice that has grown to become a standard for the integrated delivery of health care. Founded in Billings, Montana in 1917, Billings Clinic has continued to grow and evolve to become an impressive community governed, not-for-profit healthcare organization. Today, Billings Clinic employs over 200 physicians and 55 mid-level practitioners and operates a 272-bed acute care hospital, a long-term care facility, a variety of ambulatory, diagnostic and treatment services and maintains an employee staff of over 2,900. In addition, Billings Clinic provides contracted management services for eight hospitals in eight communities in Montana and Wyoming, and maintains primary and specialty care clinics in two suburban Billings locations and seven other Montana and Wyoming communities. Billings Clinic also provides services to outlying rural communities through 80 specialty outreach clinics and a regional telemedicine network.

The Chief Financial Officer reports to the Chief Executive Officer. He/she serves as a member of the senior executive team and will work collaboratively with all of its members. The Chief Financial Officer will also interact frequently with the Board of Directors, medical staff leadership through the Operating Council, as well as other physician leaders. The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for the coordination and administration of Billings Clinic's policies on finance, budgeting, accounting, systems development, internal controls and maintenance of records and procedures to adequately safeguard the assets of the corporation. Overall, the Chief Financial Officer will assure the continued financial viability of Billings Clinic and its related organizations.

The following background and experience are required for this position:

  • A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in the financial management of a complex health care environment.
  • A minimum of five years of experience as the senior financial executive with an exceptional track record of operating performance. The breadth and depth necessary to be a high performer.
  • Ideally, possesses experience within an integrated delivery environment, is knowledgeable about provider-based reimbursement requirements, and has group practice or foundation model experience.
  • A bachelor's degree with a major in finance or accounting is required. A CPA is preferred, and a master's degree in business, finance, accounting or a related area is also preferred.
