Job Description

Hospital Sisters Health System
Chief Medical Information Officer
Springfield, IL

Witt/Kieffer has been retained to identify and evaluate candidates for the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) of Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), a 13 hospital Catholic healthcare system sponsored by The Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, an international, multi-cultural congregation of Franciscan Sisters located in Springfield, Illinois.

HSHS hospitals serve urban and rural communities throughout Illinois and Wisconsin, and range in size from a 25-bed critical access hospital to a 733-licensed bed regional referral center (St. John's in Springfield), with a total of 3,800 licensed beds and employing 14,000 people. HSHS has annual revenue in excess of $1.6 billion, has always maintained a very strong balance sheet, and is AA rated by Standard & Poor's. HSHS recently formed the HSHS Medical Group, a multi-specialty group practice, which will serve as the model for physician integration across the system. In addition, HSHS has 50 percent ownership of Prevea, a 200-plus physician group practice, which is considered the premier provider in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The HSHS CMIO provides clinical leadership in the selection, design, and implementation of advanced clinical information systems that support strategic clinical transformation at Hospital Sisters Health Systems. The CMIO will serve as an advocate for clinicians, as well as administration, in promoting the alignment of goals and the utilization of information technology in the clinical setting. The CMIO is an internal consultant who will provide input on the introduction and modification of technology solutions.

The ideal CMIO candidate is a seasoned leader and medical informatics executive with a minimum five to ten years experience in the healthcare industry in clinical systems leadership, change management and performance improvement and innovative clinical systems initiatives. A Medical degree and current license is required while an informatics fellowship or certification is preferred.

We would appreciate receiving recommendations or nominations of qualified candidates. You may be assured that all nominations will be handled with the utmost of professional courtesy and confidentiality.
