President and Chief Executive Officer

Witt/Kieffer is seeking candidates for position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Community Medical Center Healthcare System (CMCHS), which owns and operates a 297-bed full service hospital in Scranton, Pennsylvania. CMCHS is an accredited Regional Trauma Center and provides a range of family and specialty practices on an inpatient and outpatient basis. CMCHS offers a complete continuum of educational, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services and programs. The system employs 1,472 skilled professionals and support staff and credentials 349 physicians in 33 specialties and subspecialties. Its annual net revenues are $181 million.
In August, 2009 CMCHS announced the signing of a non-binding letter of intent with the Geisinger Health System "to explore ways the healthcare organizations can work together to benefit healthcare in Lackawanna Counties and surrounding areas." Geisinger is one of the nation's largest integrated health services organizations and serves more than two million residents throughout central and northeastern Pennsylvania. Presently, the two organizations are conducting thorough due diligence on the potential synergies that could be gained.
The new CEO, in conjunction with an engaged CMCHS Board and Geisinger's leadership team, will evaluate and implement strategies for increased growth and service to the community. This leader will be a successful healthcare executive who is also a strategic thinker with strengths in communications, team building, finance and physician relations. Candidates should ideally bring an appreciation for the practices and cultures of both community hospitals and large integrated health systems.
This position offers the right professional the opportunity to serve as the chief executive officer of one of Northeast Pennsylvania's most respected community hospitals and potentially be part of the senior team of one of the nation's most renowned health care systems. He/she will also work closely with a Board, leadership team, and medical staff that are committed to excellence and extremely supportive of each other's contributions to institutional goals.
