Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Henry Ford Health System to recruit a Chief Operating Officer for its West Bloomfield Hospital. Opened in March of 2009 in an affluent suburb of Detroit, this exciting and beautiful new health care facility today enjoys a 99% Press Ganey patient satisfaction score and is focused as much on wellness and preventive medicine as it is on healing. This holistic approach to care begins when one walks in the front door to a facility which in no way resembles a traditional hospital. Large, airy and bright expanses greet the individual supplemented by gardens, an atrium and beautiful courtyards. West Bloomfield sits on 160 acres and has 192 private rooms but has the capacity and hope to expand to 450 beds. The greenhouse is scheduled to open in April offering fresh organic fruits and vegetables as well as educational opportunities for children, hiking paths and picnic areas.

The COO plans, directs and monitors the day to day operations and activities of the organization consistent with the West Bloomfield mission, vision and values and the Henry Ford tradition of service excellence. The role assists in the development of and is responsible for fulfilling the goals, objectives, plans and policies established through the planning process. Maintaining a shared vision and understanding with the CEO, the COO ensures successful execution based on four filters: quality and safety, compassionate care, memorable experiences, and efficiency. This individual uses dynamic, humanistic and team-oriented relationship talents to create an environment marked by innovation and continued improvement.

A Master's degree and progressive management experience are required along with oversight of clinical functions including but not limited to surgery, cath, pathology, radiology, PT/OT, pharmacy, etc. Experience working with employed and private practice physicians is highly desirable. The successful candidate will also be innovative, customer focused, have strong process/system experience and a passion for patients, their families, employees and the communities they serve.
