Division People Leader

Witt/Kieffer is assisting Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) Springfield, Illinois, to recruit a Division People Leader, a new position within the Springfield Referral Division. The successful candidate will support the mission and ministry of the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis. HSHS has recently organized into a divisional structure to better serve each of the local ministries as they focus on care integration. The Springfield Referral Division is the largest of the five divisions and contains St. John's Hospital Springfield, the flagship of the system, St. Francis Hospital Litchfield and St. John's College Springfield. There are approximately 3,600 colleagues in the division with net operating revenues approaching $436 million. The Division People Leader will report to Robert P. Ritz, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Springfield Referral Division, with a dotted line reporting relationship to Jay Justice, Vice President People Services.
With 539 licensed and 465-staffed beds, St. John's is a state-of-the-art teaching hospital affiliated with Southern Illinois University Medical School. St. Francis Hospital Litchfield is a Critical Access Hospital with 174 licensed and 60-staffed beds. St. John's College is a single purpose, upper division institution of higher learning dedicated to the provision of Baccalaureate education in the discipline of professional nursing.
The ideal candidate has a ten-year track record of excellence leading a progressive, contemporary and leading-edge people services function, implementing and creating best practices in the health care field. Demonstrated success in a multi-institutional and multi-market environment is preferred, ideally in a system. Has a strong knowledge of all aspects of people services and has served in a senior leadership role at the executive director and/or vice president level in a complex, multi-entity organization, ideally is part of a system. Candidates will possess a broad knowledge of people services functions: employment law, compensation, benefits, colleague relations, talent management, recruitment, training, management and organizational development and employee health. A Master's degree in people services/human resources management, hospital administration, business administration or related specialty field, is required. The successful candidate will live in and be an active member of the Springfield community.
