Vice President & Chief Information Officer

Witt/Kieffer has been retained to identify and evaluate candidates for the position of Vice President & Chief Information Officer at North Oaks Health System located in Hammond, Louisiana.
Founded in 1960 as a community-based hospital organization, North Oaks Health System has grown into an advanced health care system offering a wide range of general and specialty medical and surgical services. Post-Katrina, North Oaks has experienced tremendous growth and construction is underway to expand the health system to meet the rising healthcare needs of the region. The flagship site, North Oaks Medical Center, consists of 259 beds, 50 employed physicians with over 160 physicians on the medical staff and a second campus dedicated to rehabilitation. As part of their growth and expansion, the health system expects to open an additional 150 beds starting with 67 beds, 14 new operating rooms and 12 outpatient surgery rooms. There are also plans to build a new medical office building and a large outpatient diagnostic center. North Oaks has become a dominant player in the region between New Orleans and Baton Rouge and is committed to providing excellent medical care, health education and outreach and support for the community it serves. The Vice President & Chief Information Officer (VP/CIO) is an exciting opportunity at a progressive and rapidly growing health system. As a newly created position, the VP/CIO will report to the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer and will be an active member of the senior leadership team. The VP/CIO will be responsible for developing the vision and strategic plan for IT and creating a high performing, customer service oriented IT organization. Of critical importance, the VP/CIO will lead the assessment, selection and implementation of an integrated electronic medical record and grow the department to successfully manage the new clinical systems.
A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred. North Oaks Health System seeks a seasoned IT executive with progressively responsible healthcare management experience as a CIO or #2 in a complex organization. The VP/CIO must be a high energy, strategic IT professional that can build solid relationships across the organization and run a highly service oriented IT organization. A strong leader that has broad-based knowledge of hospital operations as well as IT is highly desirable. Experience overseeing major system implementations, such as EMR and CPOE, is essential.
