Lourdes Health System (LHS) has retained Witt/Kieffer to assist in the recruitment of a Chief Financial Officer. The new CFO will play a critical leadership role in defining and establishing the necessary management and accountability systems to support a customer-driven, results-oriented, physician-responsive and high performance finance and managed care function.
The Lourdes Health System is one of southern New Jersey's leading health care providers, with hospitals located in Camden and Willingboro. LHS is sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, N.Y., and is a member of Catholic Health East, a health system with 34 hospitals on the East Coast. Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center (OLLMC) is a 410-bed, acute care teaching hospital and regional referral center known for providing the most sophisticated levels of care, particularly in the cardiac, renal, neonatal and rehabilitation venues and the Medical Center of Burlington County is a 249-bed community hospital in Willingboro.
The Chief Financial Officer oversees the following key functions: financial accounting and reporting; managerial accounting and reporting (financial analysis, planning, budgeting, and cost reporting); patient access, social accountability reporting (charity care and community services), supply chain and the application of managed care contracting to patient receivables (revenue management and compliance). In addition this position shares responsibility with other New Jersey CHE Regional Health Corporations (RHCs) for patient financial services, managed care strategy, and contracting and third party reimbursement.
The ideal candidate for this position brings significant experience and a strong background in and knowledge of cutting edge financial practices. The successful candidate for this position will be a strong financial analyst with the ability to utilize information technology to generate an appropriate revenue cycle. S/he will possess a minimum of eight years progressively responsible experience in health care finance and demonstrate a depth of knowledge in fiscal and financial management principles governing budgeting, accounting, fiscal reporting, and the analysis and interpretation of the financial significance of past events and future plans in order to discern and identify trends. S/he will also possess an understanding of hospital services as they relate to fiscal activities in order to devise and/or operate systems of financial management suited to the needs of LHS programs and organizations including a demonstrated knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement accounting requirements and prior experience in overseeing a CBO as well as technical familiarity with the full extent of the revenue cycle from front to back end processes. A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business is required and a Master's in the same is highly preferred. CPA licensure is also preferred.
