Chief Medical Information Officer
Fairfield, CA

Witt/Kieffer has been retained to identify and evaluate candidates for the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) of NorthBay Healthcare Group in Fairfield, CA. NorthBay Healthcare leads the way in providing advanced medicine to the people of Solano County.

NorthBay Healthcare is a locally-based, non-profit health care organization that has served Solano County since 1960. NorthBay consists of NorthBay Healthcare Foundation, NorthBay Health Advantage, NorthBay Group Health which includes the two hospitals NorthBay Medical Center and Vaca Valley Hospital and the System consisting of a Chief Executive Officer and functions strategically for Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Public Relations, and Marketing. NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield and NorthBay VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville, are known for providing the community with quality services. The 130-bed NorthBay Medical Center is a center of excellence for maternal and child services. NorthBay Medical Center also has a Newborn Intensive Care Unit that provides the most sophisticated services for premature or ill newborns within 50 miles. Both hospitals offer 24-hour emergency care, intensive care, and sophisticated surgical and diagnostic services. In 2008, both hospitals earned a renewed accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

The Chief Medical Information Officer will serve as the organization's primary consultant to the medical staff as it relates to the overall design of technology products, adopted protocols, and the associated value for physician practice and patient care. The CMIO is also responsible for leading and advocating the transformation to clinical information systems and advanced technology for Patient Care Services and the integration of systems that affect the provision of care to patients. The CMIO will have oversight of the process to integrate changes to existing and future systems across the organization and be responsible for development of interdisciplinary clinical practice applications, clinical decision support, and clinical systems to support patient safety/quality, and educational programs for the medical staff, clinicians and hospital staff.

The ideal CMIO candidate should have previous experience in the implementation and integration of EMR and CPOE in a dynamic healthcare organization. The qualified candidate should be proactive in presenting new technologies aligned with key business objectives that will drive improvements in clinical quality, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction while having effective leadership skills that demonstrate decisiveness and the ability to participate in innovation and change, strategic thinking, collaboration/teamwork problem solving and conflict resolution skills. An MD or DO is required for this position with Informatics training desirable. A minimum of 5-10 years of clinical practice in hospital setting is necessary for this position.
