MedStar Health's areas of clinical excellence include cardiology, cardiac surgery, oncology services, rehabilitation, neurosciences, orthopedic surgery, women's services, and emergency and trauma services. They have comprehensive services including primary, urgent and subacute care, medical education and research. Other health-related services include assisted living, home health and long-term care. They also operate nursing homes, senior housing, adult day care, rehabilitation and ambulatory centers, as well as maintain MedStar Physician Partners, a comprehensive physician network in Maryland and the Washington, DC region.
The new CNO will provide system-wide oversight, support and advocacy for the professional practice of nursing, channeling communication/collaboration between MedStar Health leaders and through the Chief Nursing Officer to the MedStar Health Corporate Leadership Team. He/She will coordinate and enhance the engagement of nursing professionals of MedStar Health's quality and safety agenda through the development of system-wide initiatives and engagements that reflect evidence-based, as well as best practice models.
This person will be an innovative, successful leader who has strategic and operational skills in a multi-site delivery system known for its excellence in quality and consistency of service. He/She will possess strong individual and team skills, a commitment to developing a cutting-edge organizational culture and will value, teach and model coaching and cultivate system transformation. Experience building a highly collaborative culture that seeks to partner with physician leaders to relentlessly improve quality and patient safety is required. An RN, with an accredited master's degree is required as is solid business acumen and effective leadership in a strong matrix environment.
