Job Description

Asante Health System
Chief Quality & Medical Officer
Medford, OR

The dominant healthcare provider of Rogue Valley, OR, Asante Health System is seeking a physician executive to serve in the role of Chief Quality and Medical Officer (CQMO). Asante Health System sponsors two inpatient facilities, the 378-bed Rogue Valley Medical Center (RVMC) in Medford and 123-bed Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass, 30 miles away. Honored as a Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospital, Asante Health System is blessed with an uncommonly qualified and talented group of physician partners, and offers the full spectrum of care, from tertiary services to rehabilitation medicine, behavior health services, pediatric care, and the full gamut of surgical services. Your confidential recommendation of a colleague who is interested/qualified is welcome.

Asante Health System has steadily grown and evolved in a climate of physician cooperation, where the focus is on patient care and patient welfare. As a result, the attraction to academically well-qualified physician providers has proven strong, and many unusually sophisticated subspecialists have found high levels of professional satisfaction in an area that offers a high quality lifestyle. Asante Health System is committed to continuing to expand services and adopt progressive technology, while building the medical staff and community with key recruitments.

The CQMO will be charged with the oversight of the quality infrastructure with special emphasis on the clinical enterprise. While Asante Health System's overall performance is good, the organizational objective is to consistently be in the top decile of benchmarking with CMS, DNV and any other guidelines adopted by Asante Health System or instituted by regulatory agencies. The interface with the medical community will be through tighter peer review and due processes in conjunction with the elected officers of the medical staff, and with the CQMO driving performance improvement efforts to make it easier and more efficient for the physicians to deliver care. Electronic connectivity and standard order sets will also be included as a prelude to EMR and CPOE, which will be implemented later this year.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of effective leadership encompassing quality initiatives in other settings, preferably multi-site offering tertiary level services. Having shown the ability to measurably enhance performance in the metrics of quality will be essential, as being able to drive change will be key to success. He/she will be board certified in a medical or surgical specialty and be eligible for licensure in Oregon; an advanced healthcare management degree is desirable as well as knowledge and facility with EMR/CPOE. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
