Witt/Kieffer is honored to be working with Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in their search for a new Head of Ambulatory Services which is a newly created position.
Serving as Minnesota's children's hospital since 1924, Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota is one of the tenth largest pediatric health care organization in the United States, with 332 staffed beds at its two hospitals in St. Paul and Minneapolis. An independent, not-for-profit health care system, Children's of Minnesota provides care through more than 14,000 inpatient visits, 90,000 emergency room visits and nearly 117,000 clinic visits annually. Children's is the only Minnesota hospital system to provide comprehensive care exclusively to children and in 2007 was ranked as one of the 30 top pediatric hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
Children's of Minnesota seeks an accomplished executive to provide leadership in delivering system-wide ambulatory services in support of Children's vision and mission. The Head of Ambulatory Services will have a proven track record of success overseeing comprehensive ambulatory operations, and he/she will have significant experience leading and managing primary/specialty care outpatient clinics in a children's health care environment or a highly complex integrated delivery system. The Head of Ambulatory Services will have a demonstrated understanding of all elements of clinic management and health care delivery, including strategy, business planning, and operations. He/she will have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, and a graduate degree in business, hospital administration, medical management or other applicable field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will also be considered.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of Children's of Minnesota, Dave Overman, the Head of Ambulatory Services is responsible for preparing, implementing and achieving strategic plans resulting in sustainable, profitable service-line market share growth within the Ambulatory Division. The Ambulatory Division is inclusive of hospital and community based clinics, and also includes rehab services. The Head of Ambulatory Services directs Children's primary care network of clinics and providers, as well as develops and proposes service line strategic and operating plans that are aligned with system-wide vision, mission and operations plans. The incumbent provides administrative and clinical leadership for all ambulatory clinics and ancillary laboratories, assuring clinical and service excellence by achieving top quartile to decile outcomes.
In addition to the 120 physicians Children's employs today there is a strategy to expand the employed physician group by an additional 100 physicians over the next three years. Children's is investing $35 million into this key strategy. The Head of Ambulatory Services will develop and implement the integration strategy for all new physicians joining the ambulatory practice. This includes physicians who join via Children's acquiring their practice and employing them or those who join through professional service agreements. The Head of Ambulatory Services will provide leadership and administrative support on behalf of the Ambulatory Division and will serve as a member of Children's Management Team.
