Dean/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
Atlanta, GA

Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is seeking candidates for the position of Dean/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, School of Medicine (Dean/SVP). As one of the nation's leading educators of primary care physicians, MSM's mission is to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities; increasing the diversity of the health professional and scientific workforce; and addressing primary health care needs through programs in education, research, and service, with emphasis on people of color and the underserved urban and rural population in Georgia and the nation.

Reporting directly to the President, the Dean/SVP provides hands-on leadership and guidance to the education, research, patient care, and community health programs of the School. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an accomplished academic leader with great passion and vision to manage the development, administration, execution and fiscal integrity of the academic, clinical, and community programs, including the faculty practice plan and the basic and clinical research programs of the school. Along with the President, he/she will serve as the public voice of the institution. The new Dean/SVP will have the opportunity to contribute in a significant and meaningful way to the health and well being of underserved urban and rural demographics in Georgia and the nation.

Candidates must have a M.D. degree and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of full professor as well as an outstanding record of achievement with at least five (5) years of substantial administrative experience at an LCME accredited medical school. Experience in a community-based medical school and a thorough understanding of the unique community driven challenges and opportunities is desired. Excellent strategic skills and financial acumen, as well as community, government relations and fundraising abilities are essential. In addition, an open personal style and strong communication skills are required.
