Stamford, CT – Stamford Health seeks a collaborative physician leader with a track record of demonstrable success to serve as their Chair of Medicine. This role requires progressive leadership, effective administrative skills and commitment to the delivery of high quality, cost-effective care.


Located approximately 35 miles from Midtown Manhattan, Stamford Health provides comprehensive healthcare services to residents of Fairfield County, Connecticut and Westchester County, New York. Stamford Health is the parent organization to Stamford Hospital, a 305-bed not-for-profit community teaching hospital with a Level II trauma center. It is one of only 17 acute care hospitals in the nation designated a Planetree Patient Centered Hospital. Stamford Hospital is a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons.


The Chair will lead Stamford Health’s largest clinical department and have oversight of the Divisions of: Allergy & Immunology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Pulmonary/Critical Care, Infectious Disease, Gastroenterology, Hospice & Palliative Care, Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, Hematology-Oncology, Hospital Medicine, PM&R, Pain Management and Rheumatology. He/she will set performance expectations which provide for the highest quality and safest patient care with consistency in clinical standards, driven by qualitative and quantitative clinical outcomes monitoring. The Chair will establish a vision and execute the strategy to build a higher service volume, create smoother referral patterns, and advance the technical sophistication and efficiency of the department. This is an outstanding opportunity for a creative leader to build a department that will be focused on collaboration, engagement and innovation among the other ten clinical departments, nursing and all stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be a leader with a medical degree from an accredited school as well as appropriate board certification. He/she will possess or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Connecticut, and will have broad administrative/operational leadership in an academic medical center or teaching hospital of notable size and complexity. At least seven years clinical experience post residency/fellowship and three to five years administrative leadership experience at the Division Chief, Vice Chair or Chair level is preferred.
