CAMC Health System has retained Witt/Kieffer to assist in the recruitment of a Chief Medical Officer. The largest hospital system in West Virginia, Charleston Area Medical Center is a nonprofit institution comprising over 900 beds across three Charleston locations. The system has nearly 7,000 employees and nets about $850M in revenue annually. CAMC ensures the health care of the state's most vulnerable residents as the safety net hospital for southern West Virginia. Through its long-standing affiliation with the West Virginia University School of Medicine, CAMC also serves as the region’s premier teaching facility.
Reporting to the System Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, the CMO will serve as a strategic leader for the medical staff of CAMC Health System. She/he will serve as a conduit between administration and medical staff aligning the agendas of both toward the delivery of high quality and cost effective patient care. The CMO will be a dynamic leader responsible for building a just culture of accountability to achieve clinical and patient safety outcomes. She/he will champion efforts to reduce variation of clinical practice to create a more consistent patient experience across the continuum of care. The CMO will also be charged with fostering strategic alignments with physician and other healthcare entities both internally and externally.
We seek a strategic physician executive with a passion for quality and continuous improvement. She/he will be a visible, credible leader with a strong history in working with medical staff and administration to drive results. The successful candidate will be catalyst for change, skilled in relationship building, and comfortable operating in a matrix environment. The CMO will be a board certified, M.D. or D.O. At least 10 years of active clinical experience is required with the ability to gain licensure in the state of West Virginia.
