Riverside Health System - Chief Clinical Operations Officer

Newport News, VA

Job Description

Life is Short. Work somewhere AWESOME: Riverside Health System (RHS), based in Newport News, Virginia. RHS is a $1 billion revenue enterprise, comprised of five acute care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital, a long-term acute care hospital, a behavioral medicine hospital, four PACE centers for the elderly, nine long-term care facilities, two wellness centers and the region’s leading home care and hospice organization. The Riverside Medical Group includes more than 550 specialists, primary care providers and advanced practice providers.

Witt/Kieffer, the preeminent executive search firm providing outstanding leadership solutions to organizations committed to improving the quality of life, has partnered with RHS to identify candidates for the newly created position – Chief Clinical Operations Officer (CCOO). The CCOO will have a broad span of accountabilities to include operations, service line and clinical leadership and accountable care strategies and will provide guidance in building integrated care platforms across all Riverside service offerings.

This is an exciting opportunity to identify strategies which will guide Riverside’s efforts in ACO and managed care development to include such areas as Medicare Shared Savings, bundle and value-based offerings and the managed care efforts with commercial and government payers. The CCOO will also oversee the post-graduate physician education programs for RHS and will be a critical part of ongoing medical education efforts for all providers.  This individual will help to develop future physician leaders for the System.

Most importantly, the CCOO leads the RHS mission “to care for others as we would care for those we love – to enhance their well-being and improve their health.” The CCOO is a catalyst in a culture that values all members of the care team and emphasizes improvement in the patient experience through safety, quality and service – the Riverside Care Difference.

Candidates must be MD or DO credentialed from an accredited medical school and have completed an accredited residency with current board certification. Additional management education with a graduate degree in an applicable field is required.

Confidential inquiries, nominations and applications may be sent electronically to the Riverside Health System consultants, Christine Mackey-Ross and Wendy Brower at RHSCCOO@wittkieffer.com. Phone: 314-754-6072.
