UNM Hospitals is seeking a dynamic and progressive leader to be Chief Executive Officer for University of New Mexico Hospitals, an organization with a long and impressive legacy of service to the state. We would welcome your thoughts of outstanding candidates for this position.

UNM Hospitals is the linchpin of the UNM Health System, New Mexico’s largest referral center for complex injuries and diseases. With $1.1 Billion in annual revenue, UNM Hospitals is a thriving 628 bed teaching hospital that is home to the region’s only Level 1 trauma center and provides the most advanced neurological, neurosurgical and pediatric care in the state. It also operates the UNM adult and children psychiatric centers, Carrie Tingley Hospital and the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program. It is committed to providing care to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. As part of the UNM Health Sciences Center, New Mexico’s only academic health center, UNM Hospitals trains hundreds of students and residents in the School of Medicine, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy and College of Population Health, as well as for clinical research.

The CEO will lead UNM Hospitals through an era of transformational change and will build a strong internal leadership team that continues to be focused on performance excellence in quality, finance, physician alignment and patient satisfaction. The leader will have an appreciation of UNM Hospitals’ deep history and commitment to the people of Bernalillo County and the state of New Mexico.

The successful candidate will bring broad executive leadership experience within an academic health system, academic medical center or major teaching hospital and a commitment to and experience working within a safety net health care system and in implementing value-based care.  S/he will have a relevant advanced degree and ten years progressive senior leadership expertise, strategic, fiscal, management, communication and interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for patient care, education, research and public health.
