Texas A&M University is conducting a national search to identify a highly talented and accomplished Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). This position is an exciting opportunity to join one of the nation’s largest research-intensive universities with more than 436,000 former students worldwide. The University’s current student body totals 68,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students across sites around the state and the main campus of more than 5,200 acres in College Station, TX, which is also home to several state agencies. Texas A&M University is conveniently located about ninety miles northwest of Houston and within a two-to-three hour drive from Austin, Dallas and San Antonio.

Reporting to the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, the CISO will be an active member of the IT Leadership team and will provide University-wide leadership in the development of a premier information security environment. Information security is a priority and a major area of focus for the Board and senior leadership. The CISO will be tasked with building a proactive, robust information security program and continuing to develop a culture of information security that supports the goals and mission of the University. The CISO will fully evaluate the existing environment and provide the leadership to grow, strengthen and transform information security.

The ideal candidate for the CISO position will be a polished executive with a proven track record of success leading information security in a large and complex organization. This role requires an innovative, highly driven leader who is strong both strategically and operationally. The CISO will demonstrate the core competencies and personal traits necessary for success, including intelligence, sound judgment, collaboration, diplomacy, political savvy, open communication style, confidence, humility, decisiveness, and a sense of humor. The CISO will have the ability to develop and execute a comprehensive security program in a progressive and expanding university environment.
