Job Description

Witt/Kieffer has been retained to conduct the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) search for Baptist Health, a faith-based, three hospital system in Montgomery, Alabama. Facilities include Baptist Medical Center South, Baptist Medical Center East and Prattville Baptist Hospital, as well as a number of other healthcare services.  Baptist Health is the market leader in their 14-county service area. 

Baptist Health is an innovative organization that recognizes that current and future healthcare challenges won’t be solved through traditional methods. Because of this, the organization seeks a seasoned and visionary leader to build upon operational advancements achieved under the leadership of the retiring Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Reporting to the CEO, the CNE is responsible for system-wide leadership of nursing and quality. The CNE will establish standards for setting measurable, realistic outcomes with timelines and accountability, and create and foster a culture of safety. This individual will also be expected to engage hospital leadership to ensure processes are deployed consistently across the system, to reduce variation in nursing, while recognizing the individual goals and unique operations of each facility. In addition it will be imperative that the CNE assess the current nursing department in order to continue the development of a contemporary nursing practice as well as identify and grow the next generation of nursing.

The successful candidate will be a Master's prepared nurse executive, and have demonstrated the ability to improve clinical performance while incorporating financial success and overall operational improvement. He/she will be a thought leader and champion for the achievement of Baptist Health's patient care objectives. Qualified candidates will have a track record of identifying and applying innovative solutions to the challenges facing nursing today including recruitment, retention, clinical and leadership development, achievement of consistently high quality outcomes, and standardization in the delivery of care across multiple campuses and markets.
