Job Description

Witt/Kieffer has been retained by Christian Horizons to assist in the identification of the Chief Operating Officer.

Christian Horizons is seeking an innovative and inspirational Chief Operating Officer (COO) to partner with the Chief Executive Officer and executive leadership team in the strategic planning that will reshape the culture of the organization.  Under the new leadership of Jake Bell, the organization is breaking down silos and building teams that plan together and prioritize initiatives for the future.  The COO provides leadership and direction, promoting a regional approach to continuing care delivery which is faith-based and values-driven.  The new COO must be responsive and innovative, flexible yet decisive, and highly collaborative in nature.

With 13 communities in four states – Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Missouri, 3,000 residents and revenues of $190M, Christian Horizons (CH) provides a wide range of living options including independent living, assisted living, memory care, supportive living, and long-term care.  They also offer home care and hospice.

The COO will work collaboratively with the Christian Horizons Communities, the CEO, the CH Board, and senior management teams to continue to position the communities for success. S/he will earn the trust and confidence of key constituents and lead opportunities for collaboration and growth across the organization.  The COO, in conjunction with the Regional Vice Presidents and community leadership teams, will hold the ultimate responsibility for ensuring high occupancy and sustainable financial performance. 

The COO will model and promote an organizational culture that is values based, dedicated, accountable for success and one which acknowledges and celebrates success.  S/he will lead a dedicated team with a passion for serving the elderly and less fortunate.  The COO will set the tone for an engaged, inclusive organizational climate dedicated to developing and retaining talent.  The COO will be a passionate advocate for continuing care and lead operational discipline and performance through metrics and accountability.

The COO will be located in St. Louis, Missouri at the Christian Horizons corporate headquarters and will report directly to the Christian Horizons CEO. Reporting directly to the COO will be two Regional Vice Presidents (who each divide leadership over the executive directors and administrators at the thirteen Christian Horizon communities), the Vice President of Clinical Services, the Vice President of Clinical Program Development, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and the Vice President of Home and Community Based Services.
