Maryville seeks an accomplished, collaborative and innovative leader to be the next dean of the John E. Simon School of Business. Maryville University is a nationally-honored private university offering comprehensive and innovative education focused on student learning, outcomes and success. The successful candidate will be an experienced, dynamic and resourceful administrator with demonstrated strong management skills, who can direct the School on matters of strategic direction, academic policy, enrollment management and resource planning. This individual will provide the vision and energy to partner with an outstanding leadership team including the vice president for academic affairs (VPAA) and dean colleagues to advance Maryville’s mission of access to excellence for a motivated and diverse student body.

The Simon School’s Cyber Fusion Center is such an example. As a student-run and faculty-managed security operation, the center is designed to provide a wide range of cost-free cyber security services to non-profit organizations, charities, schools and small businesses. The Center enables students to work in an educational environment while using real world tools and practices in their work with clients.

The dean provides academic vision for the School and reports to the vice president for academic affairs. As the chief academic officer of the School, the dean provides intellectual leadership for all academic departments and multi-disciplinary programs, their faculty and staff, and budgets. The dean serves as the principal administrator planning and leading the John E. Simon School of Business, ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic plan, and the Strategic Academic Identity, encouraging curricular and pedagogical innovation, and facilitating and supporting diversity and inclusion.

Maryville University seeks highly qualified candidates who can demonstrate significant leadership and administrative capabilities; a record of accomplishment in both professional and academic circles; a commitment to excellence in undergraduate liberal arts and professional and graduate education; and an earned doctoral degree and qualifications for tenure at the rank of professor is preferred. The dean must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to define a vision for the School within the context of the institutional strategic plan, while developing support for common goals and building relationships across the University.
