The University of New England (UNE) invites inquiries, applications and nominations for the next Dean of the Westbrook College of Health Professions.  The Dean provides academic and administrative leadership to advance the College’s mission in education, service, scholarship and research.  Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean of the Westbrook College of Health Professions will partner closely with faculty and staff within the College as well as with the other Deans across the University.  This leader will join UNE as the University continues its growth trajectory in regionally, nationally and internationally under the new President, James Herbert, Ph.D.  UNE leads the nation in interprofessional education and innovative teaching methods with online, hybrid and residential options maintaining academic quality and moving UNE to higher levels of institutional distinction. 

The Westbrook College of Health Professions prepares graduates to practice, lead and excel in today’s complex health care environment.  The College is comprised of undergraduate and graduate programming, with faculty dedicated to relationship-focused, student-centered learning experiences.  The College has grown to include 940 undergraduate and 520 graduate students, 101 full-time faculty and 33 professional staff.  The College uniquely prepares clinicians to practice and lead in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.

Candidates must possess a PhD or equivalent with a background in a health profession. Candidates must also have experience and record compatible with appointment as full professor with tenure at UNE.  The successful candidate must also demonstrate:  1) progressive administrative leadership experience in an academic environment, 2) recognition for achievement in research, educational and/or clinical pursuits that would warrant appointment as a faculty member at the professorial rank, 3) experience with interprofessional education and practice, and 4) the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the College and across the University.  As the administrative leader for the College, candidates should have exceptional communication skills, a high degree of professionalism, considerable financial acumen and a clear understanding of what it takes to help grow market share and advance all academic programs in a competitive higher education environment.  This position represents a significant opportunity to help shape the vision for the health professions to achieve the institution’s overall goals and objectives.
