Geisinger Health (GH) has retained Witt/Kieffer to assist in the recruitment of a forward thinking colorectal surgeon with strong clinical and outstanding leadership skills to serve as the system- wide Director, Division of Colorectal Surgery. The Director will play a pivotal role across GH in transforming all aspects of clinical care, teaching, quality improvement, research, and faculty and staff development.
The Director will articulate the vision and direct the strategy to make this division a national program model for colorectal surgery. Colorectal surgery is a prominent service across the GH enterprise and serves as a strong partner to other clinical programs. The Director will have the opportunity to make a substantial impact on one of the most prominent national/global healthcare systems leading the industry in patient outcomes and cost efficiency. Founded in 1915 by Abigail Geisinger, GH began as a hospital intended to serve as a regional medical center modeled after the Mayo Clinic. Today it is an inspirational, internationally renowned, physician-led healthcare system. GH is engaged in healthcare, education and research, with approximately $6.7 billion in revenues. The system has seven hospitals, employs nearly 1,700 physicians; spans 45 counties in Pennsylvania and seven counties in southern New Jersey.
Reporting to the Chair of Surgery, the Director will aim to provide consistent patient-centered care in accordance with best practice and advanced research. The Director will lead a team of physicians and clinical care team to enhance a multi-site, collaborative, high quality colorectal surgery program.  She or he will be an expert advancing the highest level of clinical practice and demonstrate the critical qualities of leadership to inspire staff and system leadership.
The successful candidate will be board certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and fellowship trained in colorectal surgery. This physician leader will possess or be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Pennsylvania, and will have leadership experience in an academic medical center or teaching hospital of notable size and complexity. At least five years of surgical experience post fellowship is preferred.
