Job Description

Mercy Health Network, Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines, and Mercy Clinics, Inc. (MCI) seek a highly collaborative and progressive physician leader to serve as the President of MCI.

MCI is a 300+ provider group practice which has grown significantly over its 34-year history.  The organization is central Iowa’s largest multi-specialty clinic system, featuring an extensive network of primary care and specialty health care providers offering comprehensive care for the entire family.  Since 1983, Mercy Clinics has led the way in improving quality through innovative care management practices.  In 2008, Mercy Clinics, Inc was the receipt of an Acclaim Award from the American Medical Group Association (AMGA), which is the Foundation’s most prestigious quality award. They were also a runner up for the award the previous year.

The incoming President will drive the organization to become a high performing medical group, working collaboratively with the leadership team at MCI to create a shared vision and culture for the Clinics, strengthening relationships, evolving physician leadership opportunities, and preparing the medical group to thrive under healthcare reform.  The leader will create a strong culture within MCI, instilling a sense of purpose and pride in the organization.  The ultimate objective of the President is to coordinate patient care across people, functions, activities, and operating sites so as to maximize the value of services delivered for both the patient and the provider.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to lead by influence and example and have a strong commitment to excellence in the care experience from a quality and service aspect, and understand the integration of culture and service in creating a patient- centered care delivery model.  He/she will be a physician with appropriate board certification, with experience preferably in community settings, including a background in quality management, performance improvement and care redesign.
