Adventist Health - System Chief Nursing Officer

Roseville, CA

Job Description

Adventist Health, with headquarters in Roseville, California, has retained Witt/Kieffer to conduct a national search for the SVP/System, Chief Nursing Officer for all regions; Oregon, Washington, California and Hawaii, a total of 19 hospitals and 6,000 nurses. This position, based in Hanford California, will serve as the most senior patient care services leader for the $3.9 billion system.

What is unique about Adventist Health? What differentiates this position from others available in the market?

•    Mission Driven – This role will allow you to return to the reason you became a nurse in the first place, making decisions with patients and their families at the core, engaging that spiritual aspect of healing in patient care.
•    Size and Scope – The integrated delivery system serves more than 75 communities on the West Coast and Hawaii. This individual is accountable for the full continuum of care.
•    Transformational Leadership – The SVP/CNO has the opportunity to work with each institution's Patient Care Executive (PCE) in designing processes and practices, truly driving the implementation of care redesign across the continuum based on evidence and outcomes data, while moving into the value-based reimbursement paradigm.

We're looking for that unique individual who can effectively lead complex change; who will have the authority, but prefers to use influence and education. A person who creates "followership" through communication, inclusivity and collaboration. Doctoral preparation would be ideal, but not required. Being a conscious, living example of a faith-based system is a must, but being a practicing Adventist is not.

Prior accomplishments in the development and execution of care redesign, creating the work force of the future, mentorship of leaders, advancing quality through elimination of variance and experience leading in a multi-site setting are required. Innovation, systems thinking, consensus building are all essential skill sets.

Review of applications is underway and will continue until the position is filled. Candidates may submit an up-to-date resume electronically via Witt/Kieffer's candidate portal: Candidates can also find this portal via the Witt/Kieffer website at and selecting the "Become a Candidate" button.
