Sentara - Vice President, Revenue Cycle

Norfolk, VA

Job Description

Witt/Kieffer has been retained to conduct a national search for the Vice President, Revenue Cycle for Sentara Healthcare. After 17 years of service and a very successful career, the current Vice President has announced his retirement. Sentara Healthcare, with revenues of $5.1 billion and 30,000 employees, is one of the largest fully integrated healthcare delivery systems providing healthcare services to the residents of Virginia.

Reporting to the System Chief Financial Officer, this individual will lead the coordination and optimization of revenue cycle services across their 12 hospitals. While the Vice President will benefit from assuming responsibility for a well performing function, the organization seeks a strong leader with a continuous quality and process improvement mindset who will assess the current processes and structure and will identify opportunities for improvement, including how this function can support other components of Sentara’s network. She/he will also facilitate the System’s commitment to a consistent customer experience from pre-registration through the billing process by assuming strategic and operational accountability for all scheduling, registration, admitting, billing, and collection activities across system facilities.

This individual will join the organization as the 11th of the 12 hospitals integrates into the Central Business Officer and success will be judged off of a successful integration of the final hospital in the next 18 months. The selected candidate will also be accountable for overseeing the Prelude Resolute go-live, which is scheduled for May of 2018.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or a relevant field, with a preference for Master’s preparation or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The organization seeks a visible, collaborative executive who can develop a strategic vision and execute that plan in order to drive results and advance the organization. The selected individual must also be a skilled leader who can recognize the strengths of their team and coach and mentor their direct reports as appropriate. The successful candidate will be technologically savvy; experience with EPIC installation and process management and optimization is desirable and experience with a system implementation is strongly preferred, given this will be a large part of the leadership agenda over the next two years. The organization prefers a strong communicator who can successfully deliver concise information as appropriate.

This Vice President role represents an outstanding leadership opportunity for an experienced, talented leader to support the continued success of a revenue cycle function for one of the nation’s most respected health systems. The Vice President will benefit from the positive performance of the function, a talented, dedicated team, and the support of leadership for the new Vice President to identify opportunities for improvement that will ensure this function is a true best in class, high performing revenue cycle function.
