Hospitals Look to Chief Wellness Officers to Boost Physicians and Staff

Employee health and wellness has become a priority for most organizations, including those in healthcare. One aspect of particular concern in healthcare is physician burnout, an issue which if not addressed can threaten the very livelihood of a hospital or health system. To address employee and physician health, organizations are beginning to hire Chief Wellness Officers.

It’s very early to even call this a real trend, notes WittKieffer senior partner Linda Komnick who, with other experts, shares insights with Healthcare Dive. Expect to see a CWO or other executive taking increased responsibility in ensuring that employees and physicians are well cared for, she says.
