WittKieffer Announces New Board Directors and Board Chair

Camille Chang Gilmore and Natalie Derry Join the Firm’s Directors

WittKieffer has announced the addition of two new members to its board of directors and named a new board chair for its fiscal year that began July 1, 2022. The changes reflect the firm’s continued emphasis on evolving its governance to meet the needs of today’s marketplace, to better serve its not-for-profit and for-profit clients worldwide, and to place diversity, equity and inclusion at the forefront of its strategic objectives. The new board members will provide strategic direction for the continued growth of the firm.

WittKieffer’s new board chair is Tom Richards, M.D., who has served on the board of directors since 2013. Dr. Richards has more than 20 years of professional experience in the industries of healthcare and finance. Most recently, he served as the interim CEO of One BioMed, a Singapore-based molecular diagnostics company. He is a consultant to life sciences investors and portfolio firms; a senior advisor to Nanomix and Metis Genetics; and a former board member of Cowen Group, a publicly-traded investment bank. A former mergers and acquisitions investment banker, Richards became a life sciences executive after practicing as an academic physician on the clinical faculty of Stanford University and University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Richards takes over the chair role from Dave Matheson, a senior advisor to Boston Consulting Group, who served on the board since 2013 and had been board chair since 2017.

Camille Chang Gilmore, a highly regarded executive with more than 25 years of human resources experience, has joined WittKieffer’s board as a new member. Chang Gilmore is Vice President of Human Resources and Global Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer (CDEIO) for medical device and healthcare firm Boston Scientific, helping to oversee and support nearly 41,000 employees worldwide. As CDEIO, she drives global diversity, community, health equity and inclusion strategies and programs that recognize and value the unique talents, attributes and contributions of the company’s employees, and address inequities in healthcare and communities around the world. Since joining Boston Scientific in 2004, she has been instrumental in driving change and building a robust, diverse and inclusive company culture.

Richards and Chang Gilmore, along with Ed Grier, Dean of the Leavey School of Business at the University of Santa Clara, represent WittKieffer’s three external board members.

Also joining the board is Natalie Derry, Managing Partner and Practice Leader, Education, for WittKieffer International. In her role with WittKieffer, Derry has oversight of operations in academia in the United Kingdom, mainland Europe, Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa region. A nurse by training, Derry started her professional life as a general surgical nurse in Australia, including neurosciences roles at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and St Vincents, Melbourne. Subsequent roles in Scotland and England included neurosciences nursing at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London. She returned to the UK in 2006 and successfully ran her own healthcare recruitment business before entering executive search in 2009.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tom as our new board chair and Camille and Natalie as new directors,” said Andrew Chastain, WittKieffer President and CEO. “WittKieffer continues to expand our capabilities at the intersection of science, healthcare delivery, and education—the Quality of Life ecosystem—and these changes to our board provide a springboard for expanding our service to clients in these sectors worldwide. Tom has proven himself a creative, visionary voice on our board and will excel as board chair, building upon the exceptional job that Dave Matheson did. Camille’s experience in HR and diversity leadership for a global life sciences firm will be invaluable as WittKieffer strives to become a more diverse and inclusive organization and to foster diversity in our clients and partners. Natalie has been instrumental in building our firm’s global capabilities and will provide a unique vision to our governance proceedings.”
